Philadelphia Police Official's Son Shot Dead In FDR Park

Police confirmed to Patch on Monday that Nicholas Flacco, the 20-year-old son of Department Chief Inspector Christopher Flacco, was killed.

PHILADELPHIA — The son of Philadelphia Police Department Chief Inspector Christopher Flacco was shot to death Saturday night at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park in Philadelphia, police said. Officers were called to the 1900 block of Pattison Avenue around 10 p.m. Saturday for a report that someone had a gun. Nicholas Flacco, the 20-year-old son of Christopher Flacco, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said on Monday.

He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and declared dead just after 10:15 p.m. No arrests have been made and no weapon has been found.

An investigation remains ongoing.

The suspect took off after the shooting in a green sedan, according to media reports. WPVI-TV reported that Police Commissioner Richard Ross left Penn Presbyterian Hospital early Sunday after consoling the elder Flacco. The victim's friends were seen outside the hospital as well.

Nicholas Flacco had been in Philadelphia to celebrate his birthday, WPVI-TV reported. He and his friends attended the Phillies game and were tailgating in the park when an argument broke out with another group. At one point, someone pulled a gun and fired, hitting Flacco in the chest.
