Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade Is Sunday, Here's What To Know

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade is back in full swing again for 2023 and it's all set for Sunday.

Marchers will step off at 11 a.m. at 16th Street and JFK Boulevard.

(Sunday is Daylight Savings Time, so make sure your clocks are one hour ahead so you don't miss the festivities.)

They will head down Market Street, then turn right on Front Street and finally ending at Penn's Landing on Dock Street.

Performances will take place on Market Street between 6th Street and North Independence Mall.

Numerous awards will be handed out to marchers, including outstanding dance groups, outstanding music units, best parade spirit, and more.

There is even an award for the most spirited group of spectators who show pride of heritage.

This year's Grand Marshall is Danny Harrell.

"A Philadelphian. An Irish-American with roots back to Donegal. An admired coach. A devoted family man. A faithful Catholic Servant. A 'Penn Hero.' A Hibernian. Previously 'AOH Man of the Year' and 'St. Anthony DiPadova Man of the Year,'" the parade's website says about Harrell. "A truly valuable member of our community and our area's bridge and connection to Northern Ireland."

This year's parade theme is "St. Patrick, Let There Be Peace."

The parade will be broadcast live on CW Philly 57 from noon to 3 p.m. with hosts Jim Donovan, Janelle Burrell, and Bill Kelly.

A replay of the parade will be broadcasted on St. Patrick’s Day at 9 a.m. on CBS3.

Before the parade, a Mass led by Archbishop Nelson Perez and Chaplain Father Kevin Gallagher, procession led by Joe Tobin and the Philadelphia Emerald Society Pipe band, Bishop Shanahan High School Choir & Cantor Karen Boyce McCollum will be held at 9:15 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 20th and Locusts Streets in Philadelphia.

Light refreshments served at the school hall after Mass.

The Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade is the second oldest in the nation, behind only New York City's parade.

The first year Philadelphia held a St. Patrick's Day Parade was 1771.
