Philly Among Top 5 Worst Cities For Driving, WalletHub Says

It's not just you; driving in Philadelphia is one of the worst traveling experiences in the nation, according to a new WalletHub study.

PHILADELPHIA – A new study from WalletHub ranked the best and worst cities for driving in the nation. And Philadelphia found itself in the top five worst cities for driving.

WalletHub's study looked at cost of ownership and maintenance; traffic and infrastructure; safety and; access to vehicles and maintenance as factors in the study.

Those categories were measured using 29 metrics, including number of days with precipitation, traffic fatality rate per 100,000; and auto-repair shops per capita.

Only the city proper in each case was considered in the study and excludes cities in the surrounding metro area. See the full methodology here.

With all those categories and metrics considered, Philadelphia was the fourth worst city for driving in the nation, WalletHub researchers said.

Philly also has one of the highest average number of likely accidents when compared to the national average, the study says.

Detroit was ranked the worst city for driving overall, while Raleigh, North Carolina was the best.
