Philly Area's Best Restaurants, Bars, Businesses Named In New List

Philadelphia Magazine is celebrating 50 years of "Best of Philly" this year, so here are a few 2024 winners in and around the city.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Magazine has published its comprehensive annual list of the "best" restaurants, people, activities, institutions, services, and much more in and around Philadelphia. This year marks 50 years of the annual awards that focus on all things local.

For 2024, Philly Mag had six categories: Food & Drink, Fun & Games, City Life, Helpers & Fixers, Shopping & Style, and Health & Self.

Below are highlights from each category, which feature numerous awardees, too many to name here:

Food & Drink

Philly Mag highlighted this unique take on a classic, that features "lemongrass-tinged beef smothered in cheddar cheese sauce and topped with zesty papaya salad and crispy pepper." Find this steak at the Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park

Fun & Games

The publication touted the Center City Irish bar as the best spot for trivia, and even noted regular Isaac Rabbani once competed on the world's largest trivia stage: "Jeopardy!" Fergies is located at 1214 Sansom Street in Philadelphia.

City Life

The city in 2023 opened its first fully public toilets and tapped residents to name them. Voters chose "Philly Phlush" for the new comfort stations. So far, just two are open, one at 1401 John F. Kennedy Boulevard and the other at 2400 N. 11th St. Four more are expected to open at some point, per the city.

Helpers & Fixers

Being a mom is one of the most difficult jobs in the world, but South Philly's Amberlee Venti created a new tool for those who choose to breastfeed with Pippy Sips, a new breastmilk cooling and storage device. Check it out online here.

Shopping & Style

The Main Line native isn't just Eagles legend Jason Kelce's wife; she's become an inspiration for women all over the country. Philly Magazine says the field hockey coach and philanthropist keeps things "refreshingly real" while being a mother of three in addition to her other roles.

Health & Self

Tanisha Rinehardt and Della Burns host Double Dutch "jump-a-thons," often at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Awbury Park in Germantown. Philly Mag writes their success led the Philadelphia City Council to declare every first Saturday in May to be "Philly Double Dutch Day."
