1. Grab your bike and get to the Rocky Steps for the first Inaugural Philly Bike Ride. It's a great day to be a bike rider in Philly, not so great if you're planning on trying to drive your car into Center City this morning. The 6-mile or 20-mile ride , (bikers choose their route) passes through Center City, Independence Hall, Penns Landing and Kelly Drive. (msn.com)
2. Millions of baseball fans watching the Phillies vs Braves game last night learned a new word after Rhys Hoskins nailed a fastball for a three-run homer in their 9-1 win. With the ballpark in a pandemonium celebration of 45,000-plus, he spiked his bat and pumped his arms to a fan holding a sign that read, "Hit That Jawn." Our friends at U.S.A. 3. Can you vote if you're in prison? Advocates, community leaders and formerly incarcerated Pennsylvanians held a press conference at the memorial of civil rights champion Octavius V. Catto to call attention to the voting rights of thousands of Pennsylvanians currently held in local jails and others who have already served their sentences for past felony convictions. • WMMR screwed with the dial and fired afternoon DJ Jaxson as well as silenced its overnight live broadcast (a rarity in radio nowadays) and opted for piped-in pre-recorded playlists for night owls and insomniacs. (phillymag.com)
• The Polish Flag is red and white and so are the Phillies' uniforms. Coincidence? We think not. Only in Philadelphia will you find cheesesteak pierogies dyed Phillies red for the MLB Postseason! Kielbasy King John Czerw of Czerw's Polish Provisions in Port Richmond has waited 11 long years to make these babies again! (Facebook)
