Teen Accused Of Philly Murder Captured After Days On The Run

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The manhunt for a teenager accused of murder and related crimes in Philadelphia came to an end Sunday after he was captured and taken into custody, authorities said.

Authorities were conducting surveillance in the area Shane Pryor, 17, was known to frequent when they spotted him boarding a Septa bus around 6:30 p.m., according to the U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia.

Philadelphia police pulled the bus over and Pryor was "arrested without incident," authorities said.

Pryor is in custody on murder, firearm, and more charges after an October 2020 arrest and had been taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for a hand injury, police said.

He escaped custody in the parking lot of the hospital just before 12 p.m. Wednesday, according to Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark.

Those in charge of his transport were "within arms length" of Pryor as he ran off, Clark said, but they may have slipped on ice, lending to his ability to avoid apprehension.

After his escape, police said Pryor went into a few buildings in the area, prompting police to search those buildings with no results.

The U.S. Marshal's Service said they "worked around the clock" to find Pryor.
