Philly Expecting Massive Economic Boost From World Cup Matches
Six World Cup matches will be held in Philly in 2026, the same summer as the celebrations for America's 250th birthday.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The six World Cup matches set to be hosted in Philadelphia in 2026 are likely to bring a huge economic windfall to the city and surrounding region.
Some $460 million will be pumped into the region's economy thanks to the World Cup, including spending on hotels, restaurants, transportation, and various retail and entertainment.
"2026 presents Philadelphia – and Pennsylvania – with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shine on the world’s stage," Daniel J. Hilferty the chair of the city tourism board's Philadelphia Soccer 2026 commission, said when Philadelphia was first awarded the bid. "“What a victory and what a testament to the strength of our bid."
