Philly Man Caught With Loaded Gun At JFK Airport In New York City

A Philadelphia man was found with a 9mm handgun that was loaded and had a round in the chamber at JFK last week, TSA officials said.

PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia man was caught with a loaded gun at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, according to TSA officials.

TSA said the gun was found in the man's bag Aug. 1 at JFK.

The gun was caught as the man entered the security checkpoint in Terminal 4, TSA said.

The X-ray unit alerted the TSA officers that there was a gun in the man’s carry-on bag. TSA officials notified the Port Authority Police.

Police confiscated the gun and arrested the man on a weapons charge.

Officials said the 9mm gun was loaded with nine bullets, including one in the chamber.

TSA does not confiscate guns, buy local police do.

In addition to being arrested, the man faces a federal financial civil penalty of up to $15,000.
