Philly Named Second Worst City For Driving In New Study

In a new study released by WalletHub, Philadelphia was only second to Oakland, CA in terms of how bad it is to drive in.

PHILADELPHIA — Anyone who has driven in Philadelphia knows how much of a pain it can be.

And a new study shows the City of Brotherly Love is not so loving when it comes to getting behind the wheel.

WalletHub released findings of a study that looked at 30 key indicators of driver-friendliness in 100 U.S. cities.

Factors considered included average gas prices, annual hours in traffic congestion per auto commuter, likelihood of accidents, and more.

After examining those factors, Philadelphia earned a score to make it the second-worst city to drive in.

Of the 100 best cities for driving, Philadelphia was ranked No. 99, coming in just ahead of Okaland, CA.

The study found Philadelphia was tied at No. 65 for the highest number of annual hours spent in congestion per auto commuter.

According to the results, these are the five best cities for driving in the United States:

  1. Raleigh, NC
  2. Boise, ID
  3. Corpus Christi, TX
  4. Greensboro, NC
  5. Jacksonville, FL

The bottom five cities for driving were:

96. Detroit, Michigan
97. Los Angeles, CA
98. San Francisco, CA
99. Philadelphia, PA
100. Oakland, CA
