Roads Closing For Post-Super Bowl Activities In Philadelphia

City officials announced road closures and parking restrictions following the Super Bowl, but it's still unclear if poles will be greased.

PHILADELPHIA — The City of Philadelphia is preparing for post-Super Bowl activities Sunday and will be closing roads and more.

The Eagles are set to kickoff against the Kansas City Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officials said when the game is over, temporary traffic closures will be put into place to maintain public safety in the area of City Hall.

Temporary closures will be in place on surrounding Center City streets between 11th and 20th Streets and Spring Garden and Locust Streets, as well.

In addition, the 676 ramp at Broad Street, east and west, will be temporarily closed.

Travel delays can be expected and drivers are advised to avoid the area by using alternate routes, and allow for extra driving time when traveling in the vicinity.

"Temporary No Parking Signs" will be posted along the South Broad Street corridor and around City Hall starting Friday.

The "No Parking Zone" will go into effect on Sunday beginning noon.

Vehicles parked in these areas during posted hours may be relocated.

If you believe your car has been relocated, call the police district of the area where your car was parked.

Temporary SEPTA route detours may be put into place and service is subject to change.

Riders should refer to System Status regularly for updates to routing throughout the day.

Throughout the day Sunday, the city will provide law-enforcement support, traffic control, and emergency medical services at key locations for public safety.

The public should expect congestion in these areas.

"As the City of Philadelphia prepares to cheer on our Eagles, the Philadelphia Police Department, along with other city, local, state, and federal agencies will be on hand to ensure that fans are able to celebrate safely," said Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. "We are looking forward to another great Eagles game. Go Birds!"

But the city is still not saying if poles will be greased.

"For public safety reasons, the City is not disclosing if/when the poles will be greased," officials said.

"The Eagles’ road to Super Bowl LVII fills us with hope, pride and joy," Mayor Jim Kenney said. "With the team and management already in Arizona for the big game, we want to encourage fans to cheer on safely and responsibly as we send them some brotherly love from home."
