SEPTA To Buy 45 New Multi-Level Trains For Regional Rail Lines
The purchases come to the tune of $137.5 million, according to SEPTA.

PHILADELPHIA – SEPTA announced Thursday that it's board approved the purchase of 45 new multi-level coaches for its regional rail line.
The multi-level coaches will meet "Buy America" requirements, with 60 percent or more of the parts, labor and fabrication done domestically, and come at a cost of $137.5 million, SEPTA said.
SEPTA also has the option to purchase 10 more new cars, which would bring the cost to $161 million.

CRRC MA of Springfield, Massachusetts is producing the coaches, with SEPTA saying the cost "was the best value and most advantageous."
"This contract award allows SEPTA to advance a major service-improvement initiative at a cost that fits within our budget constraints," SEPTA Board Chairman Pasquale T. Deon Sr. said in a statement. "We look forward to seeing the new multi-level coaches in service for our customers."

The new coaches as set to be delivered in 2019, SEPTA said.
