8 Teens Shot Going Home From School In Northeast Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police said at eight teenagers were shot at a SEPTA bus stop at Rising Sun and Cottman avenues Wednesday afternoon.

PHILADELPHIA — Eight teenagers were shot at a SEPTA bus stop in Philadelphia, according to Philadelphia Police.

The shooting happened at Cottman and Rising Sun avenues, police said. Police said numerous called reporting a mass shooting in that area came in around 2:59 p.m.

Eight people, ages 15 to 17, were shot. One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, is in critical condition after being shot nine times throughout his body, police said. The others are all in stable condition after suffering gunshot wounds to various body parts, police said.

All are students of Northeast High School.

Police said three people got out of a vehicle, reportedly a dark blue Hyundai Elantra with paper tags, and fired more than 30 rounds at the group of teens as they were getting onto a SEPTA bus.

The vehicle was sitting alongside the Dunkin' at 7300 Rising Sun Ave. when they got out and starting shooting, police said.

According to Action News, the vehicle was last seen heading toward Cheltenham Township.

A SEPTA bus was struck by gunfire, but no one on board was hurt, NBC10 reports.
