  • The Philadelphia Sheriff's Department has a $200,000 ethics problem.
  • Can an eagle fly when its stunned? The Birds are back in Philadelphia.
  • David Oh is the first Republican candidate to run for mayor.

But first, today's weather:

Sunny to partly cloudy. High: 55 Low: 40.

Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:

  1. The city of Philadelphia pays Under-sheriff Tariq El-Shabazz almost $200,000, and yet he still moonlights as a defense attorney. Yeah, that's a big ethical red flag. The Philadelphia Inquirer uncovers that Undersheriff El-Shabazz has been representing clients in city courts, records show, an apparent violation of ethics rules. (inquirer.com)
  2. The Eagles have landed — without the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Their return flight from Super Bowl 57 arrived at Philadelphia International Airport on Monday afternoon to a group of fans instead of to a parade of hundreds of thousands. 6abc Philadelphia
  3. Did you hear the one about 10 Democrats running for mayor in Philadelphia? Well, add a Republican candidate to that race! City Councilman Daid Oh resigned his seat and announced his campaign from the National Constitution Center. (WHYY).

From my notebook:

  • The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to hold lotteries for 814 rare whiskey bottles, including bourbons from Buffalo Trace Antique Collection- According to Philly Voice, "The Buffalo Trace Antique Collection lottery consists of multiple drawings for limited-release bourbon bottles that are each at least 15 years old" and retail for around $110. If there isn't a country and western song about this, there should be. (PhillyVoice)
  • Dear Eagles' fans that flipped a car before the Super Bowl celebration defeat, did you wear gloves when you did it? Because the police want to talk to you. It was about 4 p.m. when a silver Volvo was flipped over and then used as a platform for Eagles' fans already on North Broad Street on Temple University's campus. (PhillyVoice)
  • Love Stinks. But you still gotta eat! For those of us that are anti-Valentine today, Martha in Kensington and the Wet Palette Supper Club know that the way to your cold, dead heart is through your stomach. (Wooder Ice)
  • That went REALLY well. When the Philadelphia Housing Authority opened up the rolls to apply for public housing — the first time in over a decade — the definition of a stampede is an understatement. Over 37,000 people applied. And only 10,000 made it through.(aldianews.com)
