Shooting, Carjacking Suspect Fatally Shot By Police Sunday
Philadelphia Police fatally shot a man who they said fired a gun inside a home and then carjacked someone at gunpoint Sunday evening.
PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Police officers fatally shot a man they said was involved in shooting and carjacking incidents.
According to police, a shooting occurred in a home on the 5400 block of Chancellor Street.
Police said the man who was later shot dead fired a gun in the home, prompting someone to call 911.

Then, a witness who heard gunshots nearby left his home and saw the gunman, 47, in his friend's vehicle, police said.
The gunman pointed a firearm at the man and his friend, demanding their property, police said.

He tried to fire the gun, but it did not go off, according to police.
That's when police showed up and the man pointed his gun at the responding officers, prompting one officer to fire at the man, police said. It's unclear if he was struck by the gunfire.
He then drove off in the aforementioned vehicle.
Another officer and a sergeant chased the man to 52nd Street and Woodland Avenue, where he got out of the vehicle and ran toward an empty lot, police said
The officer and sergeant saw the man was armed and fired their weapons at him.
He was taken to Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:47 p.m.
Police did find a Taurus 9mm handgun at the scene.
This incident is under active investigation by the PPD Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation Unit, The PPD Internal Affairs Bureau, and The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
No officers or other individuals were injured during the incident.
The first officer is a 25 -year-old, two-year veteran of the force; the second officer is a 29-year-old, six-year veteran of the force; and the sergeant is a 34-year-old, 10-year veteran of the force.
