Slain Temple Police Officer's Funeral To Be Live Streamed Friday

PHILADELPHIA — Christopher Fitzgerald, the Temple University Police officer killed over the weekend, will be laid to rest Friday.

The husband and father of four will be laid to rest Friday at Forest Hills Cemetery, 101 Byberry Road in Huntingdon Valley, after a service at 11:30 a.m. at Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 1723 Race St. in Philadelphia.

The service will be available to stream live online here.

Viewing hours are 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road in Philadelphia.

Additional viewing hours are scheduled for 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Fitzgerald will be brought to the basilica via a motorcade at 8 a.m. Friday.

Pall Bearers from Temple University Police Department will bring his body into the basilica.

Rev. G. Dennis Gill will preside over the Reception of the Body. The public visitation will immediately follow.

Fitzgerald's uncle and pastor Juan Marrero of Crossroads Community Church and Dr. Jennifer Griffin, Temple Vice President for Public Safety, will provide words of remembrance at 11:30 a.m.

The funeral liturgy will begin at noon.

The funeral is open to the public.

Seating for the Funeral will be reserved for family and police officers.

After family and police are accommodated, the public will be seated pending available space.
