Southwest Philly Fire Closes Island Ave Driver's License Center
The fire at a Southwest Philadelphia recycling facility forced the Island Avenue PennDOT Driver's License Center until further notice.

PHILADELPHIA – A fire at a Southwest Philadelphia recycling center that broke out Thursday morning has forced a nearby PennDOT Driver's License Center to close until further notice.
PennDOT said the Driver's License Center located at 2320 Island Ave. is closed and offered alternatives for those looking for PennDOT services.
Those who use the Island Avenue center are asked to use one of the following locations in the interim:

- the Whitman Plaza Driver's License Center at 330 West Oregon Avenue in Philadelphia, open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.;
- the Arch Street Driver's License Center at 801 Arch Street in Philadelphia, open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.;
- or the Granite Run Driver's License Center at the Granite Run Mall, 1067 West Baltimore Pike in Media, open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. with extended photo center hours on Thursday until 6 p.m.
Anyone who had a skills tests scheduled at the Island Avenue center will be contacted by PennDOT staff and be redirected to another location, according to PennDOT.
Customers may also obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website.
