Man Charged In Quadruple Murder: Philadelphia Police

PHILADELPHIA – An arrest has been made and another suspect is in custody in connection with the quadruple murder in Southwest Philadelphia. Police are searching for one more suspect.

Philadelphia Police said they have arrested and charged Jahlil Porter, 32, with murder, robbery, unlawful restraint, and firearms crimes in connection with the execution-style murders of two men and two women on Sunday, Nov. 18.

Police said the four victims – sisters Tiyaniah Hopkins, 20, and Yaleah Hall, 17; and step brothers William Taylor, 31, and Akeen Mattox, 28 – were all found laying on the ground with gunshot wounds to the head in the basement of a home on 5100 block of Malcolm Street the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 19.

According to police, Taylor and Mattox, who are step brothers, were renovating the home in question and found a stash of drugs in the home.

Police believe at least one of the men arranged to sell the drugs, and that deal led to the murder of all four victims. Police said the two Hopkins and Hall, who are sisters, were unaware of the deal and were merely victims of circumstance.

Porter himself has nine priors, police said. He was last arrested in 2017, police said.

Police said while a second suspect is in custody, he has not been charged but charges are pending. They are looking for the third suspect and are looking to get a warrant for his arrest.
