Stray Bullet Kills Innocent Bystander In Kensington Shooting: Reports

A fight in a beer store spilled onto the street and led to a shooting, and a woman about 200 feet away was fatally struck by a bullet.

PHILADELPHIA — A woman died after being hit by a stray bullet early Tuesday morning in Philadelphia's Kensington section, according to reports.

The incident unfolded at about 12:30 a.m. outside the Steak & Beer store along the 2700 block of Kensington Avenue, according to Action News.

NBC10 reports police were made aware of a woman suffering from a gunshot to her chest under the Market-Frankford line tracks near Somerset Street. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Investigators learned the shooting started as a fight in the store, which spilled out onto the street and led to one of the combatants firing toward a crowd, hitting the woman, according to Fox 29.

Authorities have not taken the gunman into custody or found a weapon related to the shooting.
