Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. At least 12 students drank an opioid tainted "wonk" juice at the Crossroads Accelerated Academy. Officials from the West Philadelphia school reported that a student brought in a grape juice drink that was mixed in with an opioid called "wonk." The students were taken to the hospital and the school was placed on lockdown. (PA Patch)
  2. Former City Controller Rebecca Rhynhart is racking up the endorsements of former Philly mayors. Ed Rendell, former mayor and governor of PA endorsed her this week saying, " based on her experience, her record as an elected official and her personal character, I believe Rebecca Rhynhart is the best choice." Former mayors Street and Nutter also endorsed her. (nbcphiladelphia.com)
  3. The horrific shooting death of teacher Regina King as she waited in the drive-thru line of a Dunkin Donuts has yielded two arrests. A love triangle and murder for hire were uncovered by homicide detectives in Montgomery County. Police say it was King's longtime boyfriend's mistress who hired a hitman to kill her competition.
