Target Updates Cereal Aisles At Philadelphia-Area Stores
The retailer says its full cereal assortment will be made without certified synthetic colors by the end of May

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Target shoppers in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs are seeing changes in the cereal aisle as the retailer moves toward selling only cereals made without certified synthetic colors.
Target said it is on track to complete the transformation by the end of May 2026, following through on a commitment announced earlier this year. The update applies to Target’s cereal assortment in stores and online.
The retailer said it worked with national brand and owned-brand partners to reformulate products where needed while maintaining variety across flavors, dietary needs, and price points.

As part of the rollout, Target is introducing several new cereal and granola options, including Good & Gather Kids, a new cereal assortment with 3 to 6 grams of added sugar and a good source of protein. Target is also adding new offerings from brands including Seven Sundays, Purely Elizabeth, Michele’s Granola, The Real Cereal and Lovebird, with select products exclusive to the retailer.
A familiar cereal brand is also getting a Target-exclusive update: Froot Loops Wild Berry, made without certified synthetic colors.

The transition was inspired by guest feedback and a clear shift toward foods made without artificial additives, according to the original announcement. Target said more than 1,000 additional better-for-you options are expected to roll out in the months ahead.
