Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:
- Cry, Eagles, cry! What a heartbreaker in Phoenix, Arizona. After dominating the first half and leading by 10 points, the Eagles lose to the Kansas City Chiefs by a field goal, with a final score 38-35. Even still, thousands and thousands still bombarded Broad Street. (6abc Philadelphia)
- Yo, Comcast! We gotta big problem here! Just a few hours before the Super Bowl kick-off, hundreds of Comcast customers found themselves with no internet and no television-meaning no Super Bowl game! Comcast spokesperson Jen Bilotta said it was damage due to vandalism to some of its fiberoptic cable in the Kensington part of the city that caused the disruption of service. The reception was restored and repaired by gametime. (cbsnews.com)
- Even the excitement of being in the Super Bowl could not hold off gun violence in the city of Philadelphia. The weekend had seven people shot and two killed as gun violence erupted in several neighborhoods crisscrossing the city. Police have no information on suspects for any of these shootings. (WPVI-TV)
Today in Philadelphia:
- Social Security Webinar (11:30 AM)
- Tarot Card Evening with Gina Tomaine (5:30 PM)
- Be the Boss! (7:00 PM)
From my notebook:
- Everybody and their mother are running for mayor or city council in Philadelphia. Why don't you run? Petitions start this week! Stop complaining and start campaigning! ( Philadelphia City Commissioners)
- Do your M&M's taste funny? The Mars/Wrigley Corporation, confectioners of M&M's, Mars Bars and Rollo chocolates as well as Wrigley chewing gums had a choco-tastical accident in their Lancaster, PA factory when two workers fell in a vat of chocolate. Isn't this a premise for a movie? Augustus Galoop? (PhillyVoice)
- Don't worry, nobody knows how to put on those impossible duvet covers. Sure, they look so perfect in home design magazines and all those catalogues of home decor but it's impossible. NY Times best selling author and Philly based horse and dog whisperer Lisa Scottoline says so here in her weekly essays called Chick Wit. (Humorous Essays – Lisa Scottoline)
