Teen Sexually Assaulted At Gunpoint In City Hall SEPTA Station

A man is in police custody and being questioned in connection with the July 3 gunpoint sexual assault at the SEPTA stop in Center City.

PHILADELPHIA – A teenager girl was sexually assaulted at gunpoint at the City Hall SEPTA station on Tuesday and police have taken a person of interest in for questioning.

Police said the assaulted occurred at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 3 at the SEPTA station.

The 17-year-old girl was waiting for a southbound train when a man came up to her, pulled out a gun, and forced himself on her, police said.

According to police, the victim called SEPTA police immediately after the attack.

Police took a man fitting the suspect's description into custody at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby.

Police found the man to be carrying a loaded 9mm pistol.

Investigators are working to determine where the man taken into custody was the girl's attacker.
