Teen Shoots Own Leg In Philadelphia High School: Reports

An 18-year-old student is in stable condition after reportedly shooting himself in the leg, and authorities say he could face charges.

PHILADELPHIA — A student at Philadelphia Learning Academy is recovering after reportedly shooting himself in the leg while in the school Friday, according to multiple sources.

Action News reports the incident occurred Friday afternoon at the school on the 300 block of Westminster Avenue in West Philadelphia.

Authorities told NBC10 they are working to find out how the student made it past a metal detector with the gun, and also said he could be charged.

Multiple outlets report the gun has yet to be found.

The school was evacuated following the incident, Fox 29 reports.
