Temple Police K9 Dies From Medical Condition: Officials
K9 Chandler recently turned 10 years old and served the Temple University community for more than six years, officials said Sunday.

PHILADELPHIA — A member of the Temple University Public Safety community has died, officials said Sunday.
Temple Public Safety Sunday announced the death of K9 Chandler.
Chandler, who has recently celebrated his 10th birthday, died due to a medical condition, officials said.

The police dog served the community for more than six years, according to a social media post by the public safety department.
"It is with extreme sadness and a heavy heart we announce K9 Chandler passed away today due to a medical condition," the post reads. "In his role with the Temple University Police Department, he worked every day with his handler, Temple Police Officer Natalie Sherman, CLA '12."

Officials called Chandler brave and selfless and said he spent much of his life in public service and community outreach.
"He was also a special member of our department family and holds a beloved place in all our hearts," the post reads. "Please keep K9 Chandler and Police Officer Sherman in your thoughts and prayers."
Details on a formal memorial service are expected this week.
