(Patch Media)

Hey, everybody. It's Tuesday in Philadelphia and I'm back in your inbox to get you caught up on the most important things happening in town, including news on:

  • Police say a group of heavily armed gunmen invaded off-campus student housing at Temple University and it seems to be a pattern.
  • A South Philadelphia hotel and casino sold a Pennsylvania lottery ticket worth $1 million recently.
  • More illegal immigrants were sent to Philadelphia from Texas in a political bus tour.

But first, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 52 Low: 31.

Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. Police are searching for two suspects wanted in a student home invasion just blocks from Temple University's campus. The crime happened at about 6:20 a.m. on the 1900 block of North 18th Street in North Philadelphia. Four people, including two male Temple students, were inside the home at the time. They said they woke up to guns in their faces and were told to hand over their belongings. (6abc Philadelphia)
  2. Who goes to a casino to buy a lotto ticket? A Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 with Quick Cash ticket sold at the Live! Casino & Hotel in Philadelphia. The lucky winner matched all five balls drawn to claim a $1,077,663.50 prize. The Live! Casino and Hotel will now receive a $10,000 bonus check for selling the winning ticket. (Daily Voice)
  3. Texas Governor Abbott sent Philadelphia a care package again. A second bus full of 46 people legally seeking asylum in the U.S. arrived in Philadelphia Monday morning at 30th Street Station. City leaders and local organizations lined up ready to give them a joyful welcome, a warm jacket and a cozy blanket. (wpvi)
