PHILADELPHIA — A growing list of eateries and watering holes in Philadelphia are getting on board with requiring guests be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

With the emergence of the Delta Variant and subsequent increases in cases and hospitalizations in the region, some Philadelphia establishments are saying "no vaccination, no service."

Below are restaurants and bars in Philadelphia that are requiring their guests to provide proof of vaccination:

  • Irwin’s — 800 Mifflin St.
  • Kalaya — 764 S. 9th St.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia is expected to impose new coronavirus restrictions. Those new restrictions are expected to be announced during a Wednesday morning news conference, but are expected to include a vaccine mandate at businesses.

The renewed efforts to stop the virus come as COVID-19 cases rise at an alarming rate in Pennsylvania. Fifty of 67 counties now have high or substantial community spread of the virus, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistics.

According to CDC guidelines, anyone in an area with substantial or high levels should wear masks indoors. The latest CDC statistics cover the Aug. 1-7 period. Fourteen Pennsylvania counties now have a high rate of transmission and 36 have substantial rates.
