Hello, hello! I'm back with your new edition of the Philadelphia Daily. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening locally, including:

  • Citing safety concerns, Wawa is closing two stores in Center City.

But first, today's weather:

Mostly sunny. High: 69 Low: 50.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Philadelphia who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Philadelphia Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:

  1. No more Shorties in Center City! Wawa announced it is closing two stores in Center City, citing "continued safety and security challenges." The stores at 12th and Market Streets and 19th and Market will be shut down "over the next few weeks," Wawa spokesperson Lori Bruce said in a statement. (inquirer.com)
  2. Hey Victorino, don't you play in the outfield? The Phillies announced that fan favorite Shane Victorino from the 2008 World Series Championship Team, will throw out the first pitch at the NLDS Game 3 against the Atlanta Braves. (Sports Illustrated Inside The Phillies)
  3. Ninety-five percent of nurses and unionized medical workers voted to walk off the job at Temple University Hospital. The union representing the frontline workers - nurses, technical specialists and professionals - is concerned about what they call unsafe staffing, workplace violence and limited resources. They remain on the job while still negotiating at the bargaining table. (6abc Philadelphia)
