WEL Stapeley Hosts Intergenerational Community Day with Goats
Senior residents, staff, families and community members bonded over activities led by the Philly Goat Project.
Wesley Enhanced Living (WEL) Stapeley partnered with the Philly Goat Project to host an Intergenerational Community Day on Sunday, October 17.
Senior residents, staff, families and community members bonded as Philly Goat Project volunteers educated the group about goats and led fun activities in the courtyard at WEL Stapeley.
Participants had the opportunity to pet the goats and learn about each goat’s distinct personality and behavior. People also participated in “trick-or-treating” — Philly Goat Project volunteers walked the goats around the group for participants to feed them and lead the goats in performing tricks, such as standing and kissing.

The group also participated in an interactive play featuring the goats in a Philadelphia-themed reimagining of the fairytale “The Three Billy Goats Gruff.”
The Philly Goat Project was created in 2018 to provide opportunities for urban residents to connect to nature in a dynamic and novel way by using goats. In the three years since its inception, the Philly Goat Project has engaged over 700,000 people in goat-centered activities in the greater Philadelphia region.
