Westbound Market Street Closing For Months: PennDOT

PennDOT said utility and road work from the city will force a portion of the road to close fully through mid-November.

PHILADELPHIA — A portion of westbound Market Street in Philadelphia will be closed fully for months due to utility and road work, according to PennDOT.

PennDOT said the work, which is being done by the city, will force westbound Market Street to close 24 hours a day, seven days a week from Aug. 4 through Nov. 17.

The total closure will be in effect between Second and Sixth streets.

Drivers will be directed to use Front Street, Arch Street, and 6th Street.

Eastbound Market Street will remain open to traffic.

Local access will be maintained.

Drivers should allow extra time when traveling near the work area, because backups and delays will occur.
