According to police, the shooting stemmed from a large fight between teenage girls on the 3400 block of Tampa Street.

During the fight, a vehicle pulled up, the driver got out and pulled out a gun, police said.

People in the area ran off, and while chasing them the gunman fired a shot at them, and then fired another shot on the 600 block of East Ontario Street, police said.

Police said the man chased them to Crystal Street, where Rivera-Perez was sitting on a porch.

She heard the shots and went into a home, with the people who ran off following her.

Police said the gunman then fired two shots into the home, striking Rivera-Perez as she tried to get to the second floor.
