Woman Tried To Bring Drugs Into Philly Federal Prison: Feds
A Massachusetts woman is accused of trying to smuggle Suboxone films to an inmate at the Federal Detention Center Philadelphia in July.
PHILADELPHIA — A Massachusetts woman has been charged with trying to bring contraband into a federal prison in Philadelphia.
United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero said Wanderis De La Cruz, 24, of Worcester, Massachusetts, was charged by indictment with one count of attempting to provide contraband in prison.
The charge arises from De La Cruz’s attempt to smuggle 18 sublingual 8mg films of Suboxone to an inmate at the Federal Detention Center Philadelphia in July.

If convicted, De Le Cruz faces a maximum possible sentence of 5 years in prison.
The case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Meghan E. Claiborne.
