WEST VINCENT TOWNSHIP, PA — One person was killed in a three vehicle crash in West Vincent Township last week, police said.

The incident occurred on Thursday, May 16 at around 9:49 p.m. on Route 100.

Police said the motorcycle that received the heaviest damage was traveling in the northbound lanes when it crossed over into the southbound lanes and hit the fuel tank and rear wheel of a tractor-trailer.

That motorcycle spun out of control and crashed, as did the tractor trailer. The tractor trailer leaked fuel into the roadway from the damaged fuel tank, and the first motorcycle caught fire.

The driver of the tractor trailer and the driver of another motorcycle involved in the accident suffered only minor injuries.

However, the driver of the damaged motorcycle, a 27-year-old man from Downingtown, was critically injured and left unconscious by the crash. Uwchlan Ambulance transported him to Paoli Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Ludwig's Corner Fire Department helped to extinguish the motorcycle fire and contain the leaking fuel.

West Vincent Police were also assisted by Upper Uwchlan Police, Uwchlan Police, and West Pikeland Police.
