Phoenixville Hospital Affected by Nationwide Data Breach

Hackers traced back to China stole the personal information of about 4.5 million patients who used Community Health Systems hospitals, CNN is reporting.

Community Health Systems operates 20 hospitals in Pennsylvania, including Phoenixville Hospital, Pottstown Memorial Medical Center and Brandywine Hospital.

Hackers have gained access to patients’ names, Social Security numbers, addresses, birthdays and telephone numbers, putting them at heightened risk of identity fraud.

The data breech occurred in April and June, Reuters reported.

According to a report by CNN, anyone who received treatment at a Community Health Systems hospital in the last five years is affected.
