24 HS Teams Participate In Chester County Academic Competition

High school teams from across Chester County will compete in the "college bowl" format competition, including various categories.

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — High school teams from across Chester County will compete in a "college bowl" format competition this week in Downingtown.

The Chester County Academic Competition, now in its 34th year, includes questions on literature, math, science, American and world history, geography, and current events, organizers said.

“Today is a day where our students begin to showcase the results of the great investment that our communities, schools, teachers, coaches, parents, families, and they themselves have put into their studies,” State Sen. Andy Dinniman said on Monday.

Dinniman, who serves as Minority Chair of the Senate Education Committee, provided opening remarks for the competition.

Teams are seeded based on performances from preliminary matches throughout the 2017-2018 season. Semifinal matches will be held on Feb. 26 and March 1, with a championship match on March 20.

The event is hosted by the Chester County Intermediate Unit in Downingtown.
