25-Year-Old Phoenixville Woman Killed Monday Mourned

The investigation continued Tuesday into the tragic death of the "thoughtful, caring" local woman and man killed by a taxi.

Tributes poured in on Tuesday for the 25-year-old Phoenixville girl struck and killed by a cab on Monday morning.

Amanda Digirolomo, a Phoenixville Area High School and Shippensburg University graduate, was with Bryan Botti, of Balitmore, on Broad Street near Arch at about 4:30 a.m. Monday, according to multiple media reports.

The pair were in the city for the Made in America music festival, Philly.com said.

They were crossing Broad Street when they were struck by a taxi cab, sending them flying about 100 feet, reports state.

Digirolomo died at the scene, and Botti passed away at a nearby hospital, according to 6 ABC.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Witnesses said the taxi was going as fast as 50 miles per hour, reports state, but police did not confirm that. The speed limit on that block is 25.

The driver of the taxi ”did the right thing,” according to police, and did not leave the scene of the accident, reports states.

Tributes described Digirolomo as a kind and compassionate person taken far too soon.

“Amanda was a smart, outgoing and hardworking young woman,” said Deirdre Wood, executive director of the Freedom Valley Association YMCA Phoenixville Branch. “She had a bright future. Her thoughtfulness, caring smile and positive personality will be terribly missed.”
