422 Lane Closures Scheduled for Next Week

Delays are expected as bridge construction continues over the Schuylkill River.

Intermittent lane closures are planned on Route 422 eastbound in Lower Pottsgrove and North Coventry next week, according to the the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

PennDOT said that crews will work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Monday, January 23 through Friday, January 27, to install 20 concrete bridge beams over the Schuylkill River.

Backups are likely on 422 during this time, officials said, and motorists should plan for delays.

The new bridge beams are part of a $36.2 million project to replace the bridge over the Schuylkill between the Route 100 and Stowe interchanges.

The new U.S. 422 crossing will be 924 feet long and 95 feet wide. The new structures will carry two 12-foot travel lanes, a 10-foot outside shoulder and an eight-foot inside shoulder, PennDOT said.
