69-Year-Old Upper Providence Man Attempted To Have Sex With Minor: DA

A 69-year old Philadelphia man has been arrested for attempting to having sex with what he though was a 14-year-old boy in an undercover operation by local police.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney and Upper Providence police, Charles Cohen has been arrested for criminal attempt of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child under 16, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility.

Authorities say an undercover detective became involved in an online communication exchange with Cohen, who thought he was a 14-year-old boy. Cohen attempted to meet the detective, who he thought was the boy, to perform oral sex on him.

Police set up the undercover meeting with Cohen in Upper Providence, where he was met by law enforcement and arrested. His bail was set at $100,00 and he sent to Montgomery County prison, authorities said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 13.
