Academic Accolades: Phoenixville Area Students Named to Deans' Lists

Clemson University

Megan Lynn Cabot of Phoenixville has been named to the Dean's List at Clemson University for the fall 2011 semester.

Cabot is majoring in Animal and Veterinary Sciences.

To be named to the Dean's List, a student achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Thomas Jefferson University

Megan Byrum, a Nursing FACT student and resident of Phoenixville, was one of nearly 400 students who were named to the Fall 2011 semester Dean's List of Thomas Jefferson University.

At the end of each academic term, recognition on the Dean's List for Distinguished Academic Achievement is awarded to students enrolled in undergraduate programs, with no fewer than 12 credit hours per semester, who achieved a minimum grade point average of at least 3.50 for the term.

St. Joseph’s University

The following residents earned Dean's List honors for the Fall 2011 semester at Saint Joseph's University:

Martin Iwanicki of Mont Clare, majoring in Physics

Daniel Kain of Phoenixville, majoring in Sports Marketing

Gregory Ludman of Phoenixville, majoring in Finance

Ellen O'Brien of Phoenixville, majoring in Sports Marketing

Students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all their classes, and complete at least 15 credits to earn Dean's List status for a semester.

Gwynedd-Mercy College

The following students, all from Phoenixville, have been recognized on the Dean's List at Gwynedd-Mercy College in the fall 2011:

Ithaca College

The following local residents were named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College for the fall 2011 semester:

Kyle Robertson, son of James and Eileen Robertson of Phoenixville, a sophomore Journalism major, was named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications.

Mary Fain, daughter of Samuel Fain of Phoenixville, a sophomore Psychology major, was named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College's School of Humanities and Sciences.

Grove City College

The following area residents were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester at Grove City College:

Kristopher Peterson, a freshman Mechanical Engineering major, has been named to the Dean's List with Distinction. Kristopher is a 2011 graduate of Phoenixville Area High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Peterson from Phoenixville.

Emily Peterson, a junior Music/Performance major, has been named to the Dean's List. Emily is a 2008 graduate of Phoenixville Area High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Peterson from Phoenixville.

Students eligible for the Dean's List have a GPA of 3.40 to 3.59; for the Dean's List with Distinction a GPA of 3.6 to 3.84 and for the Dean's List with High Distinction a GPA of 3.85 to 4.00.

Loyola University

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2011 Dean's List. The following local students have achieved this honor:

Meghan Peterson, a member of the class of 2012 from Phoenixville

Ashleigh Torchiana, a member of the class of 2012 from Phoenixville

Daniel Schelhorn, a member of the class of 2013 from Phoenixville

Patrick Stewart, a member of the class of 2013 from Phoenixville

In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits.

Roger Williams University

Kimberly Zamojcin, a resident of Phoenixville, has been named to the fall 2011 Dean's List at Roger Williams University.

Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester, provided that they have not received any of the following grades: F, I, NP or NS.

Widener University School of Law

Widener University School of Law Dean Linda L. Ammons recently announced the fall 2011 Dean's List of students for the Delaware campus.

Whitney O'Reilly, of Phoenixville, was included on the Dean's List.

Students named to the list earned a grade point average in the top 20 percent of their class and division for the semester.

Elizabethtown College

Elizabethtown College announced the list of students whose outstanding academic performance has earned them the recognition of being included on the fall 2011 Dean's List.

Amelia Osterhoudt, a senior from Phoenixville, is included on the list.

To earn this recognition, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better in 14 or more credit hours, of which at least 12 credits are letter-graded course work. Only Elizabethtown's full-time undergraduate students are eligible for this distinction.

LaSalle University

The following students were recently named to the Dean's List for the fall semester at La Salle University:

Bianca Lewis a Senior Psychology student from Phoenixville

Lindsay Schelhorn a Sophomore Pre-Speech Language Hearing student from Phoenixville

University of the Sciences

Elvis Hua has been named to the fall 2011 Dean's List at University of the Sciences. Hua is from Phoenixville, and is a doctor of pharmacy student.

Selection for this award is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a "C" and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4 for courses taken in the fall semester of 2011.

Colby College

Allison R. Shepherd, a member of the Class of 2012 at Colby College in Waterville, ME, was named to the Dean's List for her outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2011-12 year. Shepherd, the daughter of Irene Shepherd of Phoenixville, is majoring in biology at Colby. She attended Westtown School.

Students whose grade point averages were 3.61 or higher were named to the Dean's List.
