IT'S NOT JUST A CLEANING!!!!!

We know that continuing care appointments are very important.  Routine dental visits can help the early detection of physical illness throughout the body.  Studies have found that periodontal (gum) disease may contribute to the development of heart disease; bacteria from dental plaque can lead to blood clots and ultimately, heart attacks or strokes. In addition to possible links to cardiovascular disease, periodontal disease can cause complications with diabetes and has been proven to contribute to low birth weight babies.  It’s more than just a cleaning!!!  Here’s a list of some of the other things we do:

• Review your medical history and modify treatment as needed.
• Perform oral cancer screenings.
• Perform a thorough periodontal screening to evaluate your periodontal health.
• Perform radiographic procedures for detecting cavities and evaluating the overall health of your teeth and supporting structures.
• Examine existing fillings.
• Detect new cavities.
• Evaluate the need for preventative sealant application.
• Evaluate your bite and the consequences of missing or crowded teeth.
• Re-check the fit of dental appliances (dentures, nightguards, etc.).
• Remove hardened deposits (tarter or calculus)  and  soft, sticky bacterial deposits (plaque) to promote oral health.
• Remove coffee, tea and tobacco stains.
• Floss and polish teeth to make them squeaky-clean.
• Personalize oral hygiene instructions and provide the specific tools for your personal use at home.
• Clean dental appliances.
• Provide intra-oral photos of problem areas, so you can see what we see.
• Application of fluoride to aid in the prevention of decay.
• Plan treatment of your present and future dental needs.
• Evaluate your total dental needs, and refer you, as needed, to specialists.
• Inform you of the latest dental treatments and technology available in our office.
• Evaluate cosmetic needs to give you a more beautiful smile!
