Oaks scores a clean sweep on 2nd Annual Neighborhood Cleanup Day

Oaks residents, organizations and businesses turn out to support the Second Annual Oaks Village Cleanup Day.

A hearty band of neighbors turned out Saturday morning (21 April) for breakfast and cleanup projects in Oaks.  This was the second annual Oaks Village Clean-up Day organized by Adam Williams and the Oaks Neighbors Association.

Volunteers met at the corner of Brower and Oakland Avenues at 8am.  This year, the pancake and sausage breakfast was prepared by Brad Macy from Audubon Land Development. After hotcakes, donuts, juice and coffee, everyone split into three groups to tackle this year's projects: the on-going trash pickup along Egypt Road, graffiti removal from a neighborhood shed, and cleanup around the Schuylkill River trail-head below Brower Avenue.

Many thanks to everyone who made this a successful day: Upper Providence Township who provided gloves, trash bags, safety vests, a police escort to help with traffic control, and afterward trash disposal; to the Black Rock Fire Company (Oaks and Mont Clare Stations) for chairs, tables and participation; to Brad Macy for coming out to cook for the crowd; to Josh and the Perky Cafe for their support, sponsorship and advertising; GMAC for paint fo their shed; and for the second year, Brower Avenue neighbor Adam Williams for organizing the entire event.
