In conjunction with Earth Day, Arbor Day was celebrated in Phoenixville on April 21, 2012.
The event began with a reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation by Borough Councilman, Kyle Guie (in place of Mayor Scoda). This was followed by the presentation of a Tree City USA flag to the Borough Tree Advisory Commission (TAC ) by two foresters from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Rick Hartlieb and Jessie Salter.
Thirty trees were planted in Fisher Park, Reeves Park, and Friendship Field and along streets within the Borough with the help of Phoenixville Public Works employees and 14 community volunteers. The trees were purchased at a reduced price due to a subsidization program sponsored by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS).
