A BUNCH of new music from the Tedeschi Trucks Band + A show near us!

TTB in the midst of releasing a four-disc set of new recordings as well as coming to the Mann Music Center this Friday with Los Lobos!

It looks like it's going to be a busy summer for the Tedeschi Trucks Band...

Yes, they plan to be out touring as they do just about every summer – Criss-crossing the USA and performing at all the cool sheds, arenas & stadiums – But this summer, they will also be releasing not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR albums of new music to their fans!

The ambitious project is called I Am the Moon and was inspired by a mythic Persian tale of star-crossed lovers, emotionally driven by the isolation and disconnection of their pandemic era, the thematic recordings total more than two hours of music, unfolding across a robust tapestry of genre-defying explorations that propel this treasured American ensemble into new and thrilling creative territory. The project will consist of four ‘phases’ - Crescent, Ascension, The Fall and Farewell with each being released about a month apart from the other on the Fantasy record label... And if that wasn’t enough, each release will be accompanied by an immersive visual companion to each album. The corresponding films will debut three days prior to each audio release, offering fans an early opportunity to digest each album in its entirety as a communal listening and viewing experience via the band’s YouTube channel. Directed by Alix Lambert, the films combine studio and performance footage with atmospheric photography and imagery beautifully capturing the music’s kaleidoscopic textures.

Phase one – Crescent – was released back on June 3rd and phase two – Ascension – came out this week... Both to tremendous acclaim from fans and music writers alike. The third installment is scheduled to drop on July 29th, and the fourth on August 26th.

I have been listening to the first two parts for about a month now & they really seem to be almost operatic in scope – With all the songs thematically tied together and delivered in that spectacular style and musicianship that the Tedeschi Trucks band has been known for since their formation. The project really harkens back to those days not so long ago when a record album was exactly that – a collection of songs that were interwoven to form a fuller narrative from the artist. It’s a refreshing change from the current musical landscape of performers dropping a song here & there on social media while they build their careers.

So, my advice during these sizzling summer days is to go out and snag these superb recordings and watch their films on the TTB YouTube channel – Or wait until September 9th for the entire project to be released on Fantasy Records (if you can) so you will be able to ‘binge-listen’ the whole thing in one glorious, four-hour session!

Oh – And if you want to head out and hear this new music (along with some other TTB gems) in person, your opportunity to do that will happen this coming Friday, July 8th, when the entire 12-piece Tedeschi Trucks Band ensemble rolls into the Mann Music Theater with another outstanding band on the Fantasy label – the legendary Los Lobos.

When all is said and done, it will definitely be a wonderful way to let others know how you spent your summer vacation...

Here's a taste of a few of the new songs:
