PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- When a bus carrying Vietnam Veterans broke down in Phoenixville, a local business owner stepped up in a major way.

The group, part of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 542, was on their way home recently from a trip to see the Battleship New Jersey, docked in the Delaware River in Camden.

Unfortunately for the veterans, the bus did not have any spare tires or equipment to change tires on hand. They were stuck.

That's until Phoenixville's Peter Reis, the store manager of Tires Plus, came on to the scene.

Reis and his team heard about the issue the vets were having, and came out to fix up the bus. While the vets ate lunch, the Tires Plus crew fixed up the bus and got the VVA ready to hit to the road.

Before they left, the vets tried to pay Reis.

“You did so much for us," Reis said. "Your money is no good here today."
