Chester Co. Awarded $1M For Job Training Programs

Chester County has received nearly $1 million in funding to help train local workers to gain valuable, marketable skills

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County has been awarded almost $1 million for job training programs to help teach employees vital, marketable skills.

The funding comes from the state's Department of Labor and Industry's Next Generation Industrial Partnerships program, State Sen. Andy Dinniman's office announced.

"Our goal is to build a strong workforce of well-rounded and experienced professionals who will be the first in line to seize the job opportunities presented by the new economy,” Dinniman said in a statement. "Industry partnerships can help do just that – provide innovative career development opportunities for students, workers, and potential employees to prepare them with the skills they need to succeed."

The grants will be disbursed to the Chester County Economic Development Council and the Workforce Development Board.

Programs utilizing the funds include:

  • $250,000 - Manufacturing Alliance of Chester and Delaware Counties.
  • $250,000 - Innovative Technology Action Group (ITAG).
  • $250,000 - Health Care Connect.
  • $220,000 - Smart Energy Initiative of Southeastern Pa.

More than $5.3 million was awarded to similar organizations around southeastern and southcentral Pennsylvania.
