Man Shot, Killed By Sheriff's Deputy At Chester County Courthouse: Reports

A man was shot and killed by a Chester County Sheriff’s deputy Tuesday at the courthouse after he charged at the deputy with a knife, NBC10 has reported.

In March, Smith reportedly jumped over a White House fence and was detained by Secret Service, NBC10 reported.

Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan has announced an incident involving a shooting at the county justice center has been ”neutralized.”

In the statement, made on his Facebook page, the DA added that the Chester County Justice Center will remain closed for the rest of the day.

There was an incident in the lobby of the Chester County Justice Center. Sheriff’s Deputies neutralized the threat and the area is secure. The Justice Center will be closed to the public for the rest of the day. More details will follow.

According to the Daily Local News, emergency personnel and deputy sheriffs shortly after noon removed a man from the front security screening area on a stretcher. He reportedly appeared to be handcuffed, bandaged and speaking with medical crews.

The shooting was reported at approximately 11:50 a.m.
