Chester County Gets $3.7 Million For Farm Preservation
The funding will allow Chester County to continue to build upon its 40,000 acres of preserved farmland.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Chester County has received $3.74 million in funding from the state for farmland preservation.
The award, the maximum amount the Pennsylvania Agricultural Land Preservation Board can disburse, will help the county expand upon its more than 41,000 acres of farmland.
“Preservation of farms is truly best practice for the future benefit of everyone and we must do what we can to make sure Chester County’s tradition of farming continues," Chester County Commissioners’ Chair Michelle Kichline said in a statement.

The county recently celebrated the preservation of its 500th farm.
The new funding is in addition to around $5 million the county has already received in county funds, which positions Chester as a "state leader" in farmland preservation, officials said.
