Child in Need

Help support a family's efforts to allow their son to have surgery to save his leg!

The teachers at Barkley Elementary School are working to support The Jesus Rojas-Romero family. Jesus was born with Congenital Femoral Deficiency. He was able to visit the Paley Institute in July to meet with surgeons to make a plan for at least 2 more surgeries in 2016-2017.

The first surgery, December 14, will entail reconstructing his left hip and the left knee and attaching cables to the knee.

The second surgery will reconstruct the right hip and place a fixed external apparatus attached to the growth plate to lengthen his leg.

We have secured authorizations from Insurance/Medicare to cover the hospital/doctor expenses. The Rojas family will need financial help to cover the lodging/meals during their stays. The Quantum House is a Ronald McDonald type facility which allows the entire family to stay at a reasonable rate to include lodging and food. The family will be in Florida for 4 weeks for the first surgery and 12 weeks for the 2nd surgery. The total comes to $4,320.
