Dinniman’s Offices Open, Saturday Town Hall Meeting Scheduled Despite Cyber Attack

Dinniman's Office Remains Open After Cyber Attack. Tuesday Telephone Town Hall Postponed. Saturday Town Hall Meeting to Go On As Planned.

WEST CHESTER –March 6, 2017 – State Senator Andy Dinniman said today that his offices remain open for business and Saturday’s upcoming Town Hall Meeting will go ahead as planned despite a ransomware cyber attack that has disabled computers in Senate Democratic offices across Pennsylvania.

“These types of attacks continue to be a serious threat to businesses, individuals, and government institutions. This latest attack has not only threatened the public dialogue, it has also attempted to disrupt government operations and services across the Commonwealth,” Dinniman said. “However, we will remain open to serve and represent our constituents, and Saturday’s town hall meeting at Franklin Commons in Phoenixville will go ahead as planned.”

The Town Hall Meeting will take place in Franklin Hall of Franklin Commons, located at 400 Franklin Avenue in Phoenixville, on Saturday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants must park at the Main/North Parking lot located on Fillmore Street.

“In light of these computer issues we will be forced to postpone the telephone town hall originally scheduled for Tuesday, but nothing is stopping us from holding the in-person town hall meeting on Saturday,” Dinniman said. “My hope is that the computer issue will be resolved very soon and that this will be a short-term inconvenience.”

The cyber attack started in the early morning hours on Friday and has impacted caucus computers, networks, and databases. Senate caucus officials have been in contact with law enforcement at the state and federal levels.

Dinniman said his office will provide more updates as new information becomes available.
