Do You Agree With The Decision To Breathalyze Phoenixville Students?
Students who wished to attend Friday's Phoenixville-Owen J. Roberts game were required to pass a Breathalyzer test.

Students who wished to attend Friday’s Phoenixville-Owen J. Roberts football game were required to pass a Breathalyzer test checking for underage drinking -- and not everyone is happy about it.
Phoenixville Superintendent Dr. Alan Fegley told The Daily Local News that the use of Breathalyzers is not new in the district, and that students “were reminded of the breathalyzing procedure earlier in the week.”
No citations or arrests resulted from the breathalyzer testing, Fegley told The Daily Local News.

According to Fox 29, the superintendent’s office released the following statement about the incident: “For many years, the Phoenixville Area School District has breathalyzed students prior to attendance at extracurricular activities. Students are reminded prior to the events. In this case they were reminded of the breathalyzing procedure earlier in the week. The ability for the school to breathalyze is also in the student handbooks and district policy.”
Fox 29 said that school administrators took action after hearing that students were attending functions drunk, but parents told the station that they felt they should have been notified.
