Dog Calls 911 To Save Blind Owner From Fire: Reports

That's one smart hound.


A dog managed to call 911 to save a blind woman from a house fire in Philadelphia Thursday, according to multiple media reports.

The yellow dog, Yolanda, was taught to use a specialized telephone and dial 911 in case of emergencies, according to NBC Philadelphia.

As soon as a fire started inside the home on the 4300 block of Oakmont Street, the dog knew to help out her blind owner, WXPI reported.

Yolanda managed to call 911, and firefighters rushed to the scene in time to save the woman’s life, according to reports.

The Red Paw Emergency Relief Team was on the scene afterwards, providing treats and toys to Yolanda while her owner was treated for smoke inhalation, the reports state.
